E-Design Case Study.

Every home tells a story.
Some shout it loud with original beams and wonky floorboards; others whisper it softly through years of lived-in charm.

Cara’s farm cottage was the latter.

Cara first reached out to me after months of trying to make design decisions on her own.

She lives in a beautiful farm cottage in West Sussex — full of original features and quirky little corners. Think low ceilings, thick walls, tiny windows. Full of charm… but not exactly straightforward when it comes to planning out a layout or choosing finishes.

When she got in touch, she was mid-renovation and deep in what I call “Pinterest paralysis.”
She’d been collecting samples, saving images, and trying to cobble together a plan that worked — but the further she went, the more confused she became.

The Struggle.

When Cara first got in touch via my Instagram DMS, she was right in the middle of updating her living room and kitchen — and was completely overwhelmed by the sheer volume of decisions. I could tell straight away that she is smart, stylish, and incredibly house proud. We scheduled a consultation and clicked immediately. She loves brands like Loaf, Soho Home, Pooky… and she really loves a scroll through Pinterest with a glass of wine. Who doesn’t, right?!

But like many others, Cara was stuck was stuck in what I call “Pinterest Parlysis”. She’d been collecting samples, saving images, and trying to cobble together a plan that worked — but the further she went, the more confused she became.

When she came to me, She told me:

“I just want it to feel like me, but I also don’t want to ruin what’s already here.”

That tension between honouring the home’s period charm and wanting something stylish and functional for modern family life is so common — and it’s exactly where people start to feel stuck.

For example, she’d fallen in love with a gorgeous wall light from Pooky… but wasn’t sure where to place it, or whether it was too bold for the space. She’d also ordered samples from four different paint brands and still didn’t feel confident committing to anything.

What she needed wasn’t more options.
She needed a clear plan — something she could follow with confidence, and that her builder could implement without a million follow-up questions.

What We Did Together.

We started by slowing everything down — just for a moment.

Instead of jumping straight into colours and furniture, we talked.
About the things in her home that made her feel grounded. The things that were niggling at her every time she walked into a room.
What she wanted each space to feel like — not just what she wanted it to look like.

Because for Cara, this wasn’t just about updating a room.
It was about creating a home that finally worked — for her, for her kids, for the rhythm of everyday life.

What came next wasn’t a checklist or a cookie-cutter template.
It was a shift.

Cara began to see her home differently — not as a collection of half-finished ideas and what-ifs, but as a space with structure, flow, and potential that just needed a little direction.
The decisions started feeling easier. Her confidence grew. She had clarity.

And most importantly, she stopped winging it.

Instead of second-guessing every choice, she felt steady — like she could answer her builder’s questions without spiralling into a scroll session or texting six friends for opinions.
She knew what she was doing. And that changed everything.

What she got from me?

Cara got support that respected her taste, her home’s period charm, and the way she lives her life.
She also got a design process that met her where she was, helped her make sense of it all, and gently guided her from overwhelmed to confident.

Cara’s story is so common, I have helped hundreds of women like Cara.

If you're standing in a space that still doesn’t feel quite right — no matter how many things you’ve bought or pinned or painted — I want you to know this: You don’t need to keep circling.

You just need the right design plan, built around your home and your life — and someone who knows how to guide you through it.
