Refreshing your Kitchen on a Budget.
Are you tired of walking into your kitchen and feeling uninspired? Does the thought of a stylish, refreshed space seem like a distant dream due to budget constraints? Fear not! Revamping your kitchen doesn’t have to break the bank. With a dash of creativity, a sprinkle of resourcefulness, and a dollop of inspiration, you can transform your culinary haven into a stylish sanctuary without emptying your wallet.
1.The Power of Paint
A fresh coat of paint can breathe life into even the dreariest of spaces. For longevity choose a classic colour such as navy, dark green or a neutral such as off-white. You might even consider a two-tone kitchen, if so, keep the darker colour for the bottom cabinets and the lighter for the top. If painting your kitchen cabinets is your vibe, then check out our step-by-step instructions for doing it yourself.
This was a DIY painting project we did using Benjamin Moore Vintage Vogue. This new-build kitchen was looking a bit dull and cold with grey cabinets on the bottom, silver hardware and no splash back. We repainted the bottom cabinets, replaced the hardware with brass handles from Meraki and added a gorgeous textured splash back using hand made zellige tiles from Mosaic Factory.
2. Elevate your Cabinets with new Hardware
Updating your cabinet hardware is like adding the perfect accessories to your favorite outfit—it can completely transform the overall look. Whether you prefer sleek handles, vintage knobs, or contemporary pulls, replacing cabinet hardware is a simple and cost-effective way to refresh the look of your kitchen. Waste not want not, be kind to the planet and recycle your existing hardware or sell them on.
We source hardware from a variety of places, but our firm favourites are definitely: Meraki , Dowsing & Reynolds and Plank Hardware.
3. Refresh the Look with new Pendant Lights
Pendant lights are like jewellery for your kitchen—they add a touch of glamour, create focal points, and enhance the functionality of your workspace. By replacing old or generic pendant lights, you can infuse your kitchen with style, character, and even a splash of color. They can serve as statement pieces, tying together the design elements of your kitchen. Just remember this little tip when hanging your new pendant lights: leave a gap of 76-91cm between the bottom of the pendant and the island/breakfast bar.

4. The Magic of Organisation
An organized kitchen not only appears more spacious but also enhances your cooking experience. Invest in budget-friendly storage solutions like hooks, shelves, and organizers to declutter your countertops. A clutter-free kitchen instantly feels more inviting and allows your creativity to flow freely.

5. The Final Touch
It’s time for the final flourish: refreshing your styling accessories. This step is like adding the cherry on top of a delicious cake—it completes the look and ties everything together. Whether you've chosen a vibrant new color scheme or embraced a neutral, calming palette, here's how to style your kitchen accessories for a polished and cohesive look:
Introduce decorative items strategically. Display a set of stylish matching or complementary dishware on open shelves. Place a bowl of fresh fruits or a vase of flowers on the countertop for a touch of natural beauty. Hang decorative tea towels or oven mitts that align with your colour scheme.
Bring depth and interest to your kitchen by mixing textures and materials. Consider woven placemats, wooden cutting boards, or glass jars filled with pantry staples. These textures add visual appeal and create a balanced, harmonious atmosphere.
Embrace the beauty of nature by incorporating potted herbs, succulents, or small indoor plants. Plants not only add a refreshing touch of greenery but also purify the air, creating a lively and inviting atmosphere.
